Description

First produced in 2013 this classic, Bordeaux style blend is a fine example of the synergy that can be achieved with skilful blending of various fruit parcels. The complementary effects of the fruit flavours and tannins of the four varieties, deliver a wine of style and length that is structured, elegant and full in flavour.

Cabernet Sauvignon contributes elegance, finesse and a structured tannin frame. Select vineyard parcels ensure vibrant aroma, flavour profile and elegant tannins. Components are barrel fermented in 2 and 3-year-old American and French oak. Merlot fills the front and mid palate with rich, red fruit. After a 2 year maturation in old French oak barrels, the tannins work to soften the wine. Fermented in older French oak barrels, Cabernet Franc contributes perfume and leafy aromatics, while drawing a linear tannin down the centre line to give the wine focus and length. Petit Verdot contributes freshness along with a sprinkling of spice and perfume to provide aromatic lift and palate weight. Like the rest of the blend it is fermented in older French oak barrels.

Tasting:

BOUQUET Lifted fresh mint, ripe plum, cassis, blackberry, raspberry and brambles, over tobacco leaf, cigar box, dried herbs and milk chocolate.

PALATE Raspberry, cherry, plum and blackcurrant, overlay coffee, chocolate, roasted nuts and brown spice. Well integrated tannins provide structure across the length of the palate and give the wine a focus that persists long after the wine has left the mouth. A medium bodied, balanced and multilayered wine that is superb with food.

BLEND Cabernet Sauvignon 53% Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 10% Petit Verdot 7% 

AGEING POTENTIAL This wine can be enjoyed on release and will develop complexity with cellaring for up to 10 years
